This wasn’t good. The bad monsters were gone but Time and Vio had been hurt. Green was helping Vio, Blue was securing a perimeter, and Red was left to take care of Time, even though Time had insisted Red didn’t need to.
He was extremely gentle as he wrapped the bandages around Time’s arm, sniffling back his own tears. Injuries in a fight always left Red feeling awful, even if he wasn’t to blame. He thought he could do better, but every time he tried he just got so afraid. When it came down to it he of course stepped up to the plate. But little skirmishes? He knew sometimes he was just in the way. No matter how much time passed or how much experience they gained, Red never changed. None of them ever changed. That was simply how the Four Sword worked.
Red realized he was wrapping too tightly and hastily undid the last handful of layers, babbling out quick apologies among tears. Gosh, he couldn’t even help right.
Red’s tears and little sniffles leave him feeling awkward and even from his position on the ground - crosslegged, arm limp in Red’s grip - he can’t help but very subtly lean back.
The injury itself isn’t anything bad by his standards--just a laceration across his forearm. It probably wouldn’t even leave that visible of a scar, and yet... Here was Red, tenderly bandaging it and crying.
He averts his gaze despite himself, forcing himself to stay still despite how much he wants to fidget. The bandages grow tighter around his arm and although he notices it, he doesn’t say anything or shift his expression.
As Red starts apologizing for it, unwinding the bandage as fast as he can, Time takes a deep breath and steels himself.
“It... It’s fine.” He mutters, tongue already growing heavy in his mouth. He sounds a lot more upset than he feels, probably due to how monotonous he is, but he’s not quite sure how he would even clear up that misunderstanding.
