the reason Eddie brought so much luggage to Derry is because he’d consciously or subconsciously made up his mind to leave his wife once the memories came back. he was brave once, he thinks. maybe it’s time to be brave again.

I just think it’s really interesting how salty people are over how popular Richie/Eddie is to the point where they are actively coming into the tag and stirring up drama and generally just opening up the salt mines and then claiming that it’s the “reddie stans” and their “cult-like” mentality “ruining everything” and being “frustrating.” and okay, I avoid fandoms as a whole like the plague so maybe there is something I’m missing, but I track the reddie tag, I check it multiple times a day for new content, I read the tags within the tag, and I’ve been around a few toxic fandoms before, and I’m just not seeing half the things everyone seems to be complaining about.
anyway my brief summary and only weigh-in on the whole “Richie Kaspbrak v Eddie Tozier” debate basically boils down to “it’s Eddie Tozier because Eddie likely wouldn’t want to keep his canonically abusive mother’s surname” nor, in a scenario where he has divorced Myra, would he likely want to taint his new marriage to someone he genuinely loves with the baggage that comes with that name
loving the very canon events of IT: Chapter 2 where Eddie’s death was only a deadlights vision that Richie experienced that gave him the foresight to roll Eddie out of the way and then Eddie divorced his abusive wife and he and Richie moved to LA together and were loving partners the end. canon’s great
honestly i love that “big dick richie” seems to be the general fandom consensus now
honestly controversial opinion here I suppose but one upside to reddie’s beyond tragic end is the deluge of fix-it fics that give me takes on Eddie surviving that honestly would have likely far surpassed anything put to screen. now would I still give someone’s left arm for Eddie to have not died and to actually watch him survive onscreen etc? fuck yeah lemme at that clown bitch. but I do greatly appreciate all the fix-it content we now get from a variety of point of views from a variety of authors that might not have happened otherwise.
hey not for nothing but that scene in the quarry where they’re talking about Eddie and everyone’s like “isn’t that right, Richie?” and the camera pans to him and he’s just quietly crying destroyed me, thanks
