December 8, 2014 – EMOTIV .. sheer exhilaration and imaginative fallout of movement
Kennedy Center Theatre Lab – part of the Millennium Stage Series 2700 F Street NW, Washington, DC (Bus from Foggy Bottom Metro) 6:00 to 6:50 pm FREE In partial celebration of the 40th anniversary season, Maida Withers Dance Construction Company, composers/musicians, John Driscoll and Steve Hilmy, and lighting designer, Enoch Chan, collaborate to present 50-minutes of uninterrupted excerpts of choreography by Maida Withers from the past (Stall. and Time Dance), present (Collision Course – a.k.a. Pillow Talk), and future (MindFluctuations).
“The concert bore her unmistakable stamp, a kind of aesthetic aroma compounded of equal parts wit, iconoclasm, and inventive curiosity. What binds together Withers’ choreography is not stories, romance, sex, or sociology, but the sheer exhilaration and imaginative fallout of movement, movement interpreted in the widest and most liberated sense.” Alan M. Kriegsman, The Washington Post
Dancers: Felicia Avalos, Vincent Cacalano, Alicia Diaz, Anthony Gongora, Shannon O’Brien, Sammi Rosenfeld, Giselle Ruzany, Matthew Thornton, Mary Heath
