“Oh come on ref!” Jen was raving, the other team had just taken Stiles out. Stiles! He wasn’t even close to the damn ball. In her anger, she didn’t even notice the girl next to her until she bumped into her and dropped her drink all over her.  “Shit, I’m so sorry.” She dropped down fast and scrambled for the tissues she always carried in her bag. “Here, let me help.”

         Clever. Crack inside jokes about yourself that literally no one will understand, Jamie. Foolproof          humor, guaranteed to generate laughter. Instead of his sarcasm and lamenting of his own recent          boredom and stagnation -- the result of not being able to travel the country and go on new          adventures every day like he’d become so accustomed to recently -- it comes off like a bad joke          and an attempt to change the subject. Not quite intended, but still needed.
