blue hues cast downwards in a weak attempt to stay collected. everyone else was upset, daniel obviously the most. of course, his brother had just been killed in some game. haru had to stay strong, it was his duty to. if he couldn't stay strong then the others wouldn't have anything to rely on. that was the only thing he was good at after all; staying silent and listening. he didn't even know why but it somehow had always comforted his friends. it's my fault. this single thought haunted him ever since that day, it repeated itself like a unwanted mantra inside of his head, a chant he couldn't silence no matter how hard he tried. and yet he felt as if it was true. he was the only one with finn at the time of the attack; if he would've been strong enough to break the barriers that had held him down he would've been able to save his friend. and he felt as though his friends thought this way too. he wasn't stupid, he had known from his childhood on how it felt when people distanced themselves from him. and right now he desperately wanted to speak up for the first time in years, but even after he opened his mouth nothing seemed to come out. he didn't know what to say, he didn't know what to think anymore. "well... say something... i'm starting to give up on you." alice' words didn't come as a surprise anymore. a soundless laugh left dry lips; it had been a week since he stopped responding to any messages or attempts to interact with him. he had realized that he had been keeping his head over the clouds; he was a nothing. his existence didn't matter and he was certain that everyone was better off without him. for heavens sake, he never even comforted them with words when he should have. he really was a horrible friend, wasn't he? and even now, after they had told him that they were sorry and that they had reacted wrong he felt as if it was a lie. "haru please... we need you!" and yet he felt so small, all faith in himself crushed as he turned around. they had to be lying, after all he didn't even need himself.
