Gemerl Gthoughts #G4. Generational Gizoid.
I love the letter G. Anyway, Gemerl has HUGE potential in a self discovery story, and not in the way you think. Yes, the idea that Gemerl has "feelings" about his relation to Emerl is a fun concept to explore, but what I think is more exciting is that he's basically the result of generational influence.
He was reprogrammed by Tails, to what extent we don't know. Fact is, once Tail's was done with him, Gemerl had free will, and an (almost) total separation from Eggman's influence!
His body was designed by Eggman, obviously, to be another of his many war-machines; and I'm sure lot of programs and code was added to his personality to make him said war-machine. Even if most of Gemerl's AI was copied from Emerl's Data, he would not be close to the same person after Eggman.
Then of course, the Data Eggman copied was, itself, already altered by Gerald! Gerald gave Emerl a soul formed from data, modeled after his granddaughter (which itself could be seen as yet another generation of influence.)
All leading back to the Gizoid's original purpose. Shrouded in mystery, both a piece of technology and almost a religious symbol, The Gizoid was feared even at the dawn of it's creation. Seen as a sleeping God of Destruction, a weapon.
All these influences, all this history, and still Gemerl is learning, taking on input however he can. "Designed to evolve." In his own words. His grubby little hands touch every part of history and technology worth considering in the Sonic Universe, and all these lost threads still have the potential to be explored. God I love my robot son.
