Sofia lamb 2 & 3 for the character ask game
2 - Favourite canon thing about this character?
It’s very hard to choose just one thing since Sofia is one of my favourite characters of all time so I’m sure I’ll be leaving out finer details that I love about her, but I do love that she is six feet tall. Hello.
A moment of Sofia’s that hugely stuck to me in the book, which gave me a lot of Sofia material to sink my teeth into, is during the prison riot, while she is wringing her hands and thinking only of Eleanor. I love getting that insight into her mind, especially as it is established in the book that by this point, she knows what has happened to her. It’s a rare moment of Sofia being a scared mother who wants to protect her child instead of Holy Mother Lamb or a sternly spoken psychiatrist, and it made me very sad. Also the “I have lost my way” line earlier and how uneasy she is with her patient knowing the experiments Sinclair is pushing her into sending him away to, very good moments
I also really love how she speaks. The writing of her dialogue alongside Fenella Woolgar’s absolutely incredible performance makes for a character who is, as she needs to be, extremely engaging and charismatic while conveying her intelligence, which makes it very easy - for me at least - to be fully drawn into what she’s saying. All that to say I love her speeches over the tannoys in particular
