pearson staying over at tressler’s and wearing their clothes…
the use of michael unmasked with the red string directly over his heart is very interesting symbolically when also combined to micahel's psychic connection to jamie (to us, this is supposed to "the first time" we see this activated in such an obvious way, or more confirming they are linked from h4 into h5) -
"It is commonly thought of as an invisible red cord around the finger of those that are destined to meet one another in a certain situation, as they are "their one true love"."
"The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of place, time, or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break. This myth is similar to the Western concept of twin flames or a destined partner."
"In the original Chinese myth, the thread is tied around both parties' ankles, while in Japanese culture it is bound from a male's thumb to a female's little finger. In modern times, though, it is common across both these cultures to depict the thread being tied around the fingers, often the little finger."
"Chinese Mythology says, “It is commonly thought of as an invisible red cord around the finger of those that are destined to meet one another in a certain situation as they are their true love. The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of place, time, or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break."
do i think michael 'loves' jamie in the way she likely could (or does) love him? no, i don't think michael is currently capable of that. i think he has a sense of claim and/or ownership of her. with judith, it's a complicated relationship, one forged at birth and to her death, changing and growing as he did. the closest to 'love' would be to his mother. edith is the person he knew (or knew him) 'best' before 'he changed', if that makes sense? she sort of had that claim to him/bonded to and with him before 'it all went wrong' ... idk, i never write michael as devoting or truly loving, but he is definitely obsessive and possessive, and has his own ways of 'respecting' people (loomis is a prime example of this 'respect').
myjamie nation, rise up - we have a new chapter
