4 year old: *at my office-during a meeting-walks up with toy scissors* I'm going to cut their heads

*boss, coworker and sales rep stare at me*

me: you're gonna give them...haircuts..?

4 year old: no, I'm going to cut their heads. Not you though mommy, you keep your head

me: can...can you go sit at the table and eat and I'll be there in a few minutes *she sits in the chair playing with PJ mask* totally sure that wasn't a threat..

"Mom of a Weird Kid" story time: Today I picked the kids up from school, and Else shouted "DAN I GOT YOU A PRESENT." Else is 6 and Dan is 14 in a few days, and as parents of kids with a large age gap can attest to, when they do have a "moment" it's pretty heartwarming. Else, with her little toothless grin beaming in the afternoon sunlight passes Dan a @cheezit bag. He says "Thanks Else" and I can see that this has genuinely surprised him in a good way- it has warmed his angsty pubescent teen heart 🖤. Suddenly the warmth leaves his face and I see confusion. "Oh, its opened" he says. He looks inside and looks at me with the dryest, most annoyed face ever. "It's rocks and leaves." Else burst a short laugh from the back. "BAHA I got it for YOU Dan!". He turns and buckles and says "Thanks Els."
