Black. I am my hair, black. I am my skin, black. My ancestors as well as me come from around the world, who look like me, who are black. Thick curves enough to be swayed around But shake the ground like thunder Thick plump hips like a peach, And coily afros to braid and tangle Just like my roots. Dancing to loud and rhythmic beats To hear how our people stand yet unheard While popular music artists, are trying to get the message across. Showing culture through hair and beads Which you cannot touch anytime you please But for that to be shown as appropriation But masked as trends. I am my culture I am my lips I am my hair I am black.
