personally i subscribe to the idea that the vg crew would aaaaaabsolutely notice something is wrong with my rook. they could chalk it up to Grief, but there's gotta be SOME concern with how rook talks about a dead man as though he's perfectly fine. its so interesting and devestating to think about how they look from the companions perspective. always visiting an empty infirmary, talking to themselves, + other blood magic side effects i headcanon like spotty memory and lost time. rook seems so,, UNWELL. they'd KNOW something is up but,, even if they have pretty solid guesses or theories, no one can Do anything about it. trying to address it with rook won't work because they'll just forget all about that conversation the same way they forgot about varric. it creates such a Dynamic (be it strained, concerned, pitying, mistrustful, etc) between rook and the vg crew and i am alwaysssss thinking about it
