Unexpected Encounter || René and Nada
"Yes. Okay. I promise." The blonde girl packed her belongings into her gym bag as she spoke to her friend over the phone. It had been an exhausting day of dance practice for her yet she was being forced to visit a worried friend so he could keep an eye on her. "I swear, oppa. I'll be there in about a half hour. Don't worry so much. I'm just fine." She mumbled the last bit into her phone before bidding him farewell and hanging up as she exited the Mafia Records building.
Getting off of the bus, Nada slung her bag over her shoulder and began the five block walk to her friend's house. Just as she passed a quiet and empty park, Nada sneezed, causing her phone that had been hanging out of her pocket to fall to the ground. Panic rose in her as she crouched down to pick up the phone that had fallen face down. She held her breath as she slowly turned it over. A sigh of relief left her lips when she saw no cracks.
"This is what I get for not putting a cover on this thing." She mumbled to herself as she ran her fingers through her still slightly damp hair. It probably wasn't a good idea to have showered and walking out in the cool night air. Her friend is surely going to scold her when she gets to his place.
Pulling her hoodie up to cover her blonde hair, Nada slipped the phone into her pocket and resumed walking. She stopped in her tracks and looked over at the dark and abandoned park. It would take her another fifteen minutes if she walked around it, but if she walked through the park, she'd be at her friend's house quicker. Something nagged at her not to go through the park though. Standing firmly in her spot for a few more seconds, Nada shook her head and sighed.
"Don't be a coward, Yejin. Nothing is gonna happen. Seriously, get a grip." She took a deep breath and began to walk briskly through the park despite listening to her gut feeling about not going through.
Nada was almost through the park, when strangled breathing stopped her from walking any further. Her heart seemed to stop beating for a moment and her breathing quickened. Her heart began pounding against her chest and she could hear the blood rapidly being pumped through her. She looked left and nothing. She took her phone out and pressed the send button, ready to call her friend if she needed. She looked right, and her breath hitched in her throat at the sight. Someone was being murdered before her eyes. She was too stunned to do anything and simply stood still. When she saw the life leave the victims eyes, it was then that she was able to find her voice.
"Oh my God..." she didn't know exactly what she saw, but a scream left her lips as she began to run as fast as she could, despite still being exhausted from her earlier practice. "Someone help!"
