Things I’ve Learned That I Love After Watching Black Panther for the Fifth (5th) Time
The story starts with N’Jobu talking to N’Jadaka, not with T’Chaka talking to T’Challa
The Panther that The Black Panther is based on is the Panther Goddess Bast (not sure if that’s a comic thing or an adaptation thing, but I really like it)
Even though I’d thought Ramanda’s line “Show him who you are” was kinda cheesy and a throwaray line at first, half the movie is about N’Jadaka trying to figure out who he is in relation to his race and his estranged homeland
Nothing about disrespecting or threatening women is dressed up as being sexy or natural. N’Jadaka’s mistreatment of the herb gardner and disrespectfully calling Ramanda “Auntie” is coded villainous
I still can’t fully bring myself to disagree with N’Jadaka’s point of view
