What are Nitrosamines, or more correctly N-nitrosoamines, refer to any molecule containing the nitroso functional group.
Formation of nitrosamines is carried out through a simple reaction in the presence of secondary, tertiary, or quaternary amines with a nitrating agent under acidic reaction conditions. However, it was concluded that the possibility for nitrosamine impurity content was broader than simply the concurrent presence of nitrites and amines in the synthesis of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API).
