i'm not done talking about mafuyu. the premise of her character is that she's numb to emotion and doesn't know what she wants, and yet she singlehandedly formed a sekai, which are built out of feelings and desires. from the start, she had not only the wish to disappear, but the wish to heal as well. and the kicker is, that second wish extends beyond herself.

think of rin and meiko, the first two additions to sekai after the main story, who are both clearly not there for mafuyu's sake. rin in particular happened to appear right when ena needed her the most. one interpretation of this is that ena herself manifested her because her feelings in that moment were similar to those that formed the sekai. but if we assume that everything in empty sekai is a product of mafuyu's mind alone, a different implication arises. if miku's existence proves that mafuyu wanted healing for herself, rin's (and meiko's to a lesser extent) proves she wanted the same for her friends.

through this lens, it's even more poignant when she discovers an affinity for literally healing people in twilight festival. her interest in being a nurse is so she can provide both physical and emotional comfort, the latter of which at least her sekai has already been doing.

mafuyu has always wanted to heal, both herself and others.
