This residency seeks to encourage creative & critical learning through production and an open exchange within the region and beyond in contemporary art & culture. We typically accept 12-15 artists per year for participation in our residency Programme. For the coming year, we will offer several funded residencies available to artists based on the African continent, and additional self-funded residency opportunities. Upon acceptance, we are always happy to provide letters of invitation and other documentation that may help artists fundraise for the residency costs (such as studio fees, accommodation, visa applications, materials, transport, and food.) Nafasi provides selected residents with curatorial and administrative support, connections and opportunities to collaborate and interact with Tanzanian artists and audiences, and promotion for artist talks and open studio/exhibitions organised during the residency.
