"BPM (Beats Per Minute)" (2017) Original Title: "120 battements per minute" Robin Campillo's award-winning film is set in the early 1990's, which captures activist group ACT UP'S fight against HIV/AIDS. Members take their activism to the four walls of the classrooms but are backlashed, and their public protests mainly to pharmaceuticals and the streets, at the same time defending the dignity of stigmatized minority groups (e.g. gays, sex workers, drug users). While, the film is politically layered, it shifts to the individual stories of ACT-UP members and the normative culture of daily medication of positive members. It depicts feisty activism, political discussions, steamy gay sex, love and death. The film is beautiful, cinematic and piognant where politics is lived in the "first person" to the last breath, and even after death. #beatsperminute #robincampillo #nahuelbiscayart #arnaudvalois #adelehaenel #antoinereinartz https://www.instagram.com/p/B_2Yr_EAETD/?igshid=1jui9ziid0elg
