How to take care of your nails in winter
Protection of Hands
It’s better to prevent the conditions before it gets worse. Wear gloves while going outdoor and rubber gloves when washing up. Use a hand moisturizer with UV protection when gloves cannot be a considerable option. Always apply moisturizer after washing your hands or having a bath or shower. Also apply a vitamin E based oil to seal in the moisture. Massage the oil into your nails and cuticles. This will strengthen your nails. Use varnish to protect and strengthen your nails further. Consider to use a base coat painting your nails with color.
A healthy diet for wonders
Include plenty of calcium, zinc, magnesium and vitamins A, B and C in your diet to encourage strong, healthy looking nails as diet is important for health and the condition of your hair, skin and nails.
Try some Moisturizing tricks
Apply a generous amount of nourishing moisturizer to the hands and nails and allow it to be absorbed before following with a thin film of oil. Slip your hands into a pair of cotton gloves and sleep with them on. In the morning you will have super soft hands and nourished nails!
Care while filing the nails
Incorrect filing can damage your nails. Be sure that your nails are completely dry before attempting to file. File from corner to centre in smooth strokes to avoid splitting. It’s advisable to never use a metal file. For optimum results nails should be trimmed with clippers before filing.
Stay Moisturized
Loss of moisture from your hands will make the skin dry and flaky, in turn leading to wrinkles. Since hands are the most exposed part of your body, thus proper care should be taken accordingly. In order to avoid the loss of moisturizer, always moisturize, especially after you’ve done things like washing dishes.
Treat your nails at home Some easy home treatments work well for hands. Soak your nails for about 10 minutes in warm water, with a teaspoon of almond oil. To remove dead skin, mix some salt with lemon juice and rub gently for five minutes. You can also dip your hands in warm milk as the calcium in the milk works to strengthen nails as well. This will make dry hands more supple.
Conditioning of Nails.
Apply some amount of cuticle oil or Vaseline to your nails before taking a shower. While taking the shower, massage it then as the steam helps the oil/Vaseline penetrate into dry and cracked nails and skin. Gently massage the oil or Vaseline into the cuticle around the nails.
