Double Cluster of Perseus
NGC 884 and NGC 869 are open clusters in the constellation of Perseus, often referred to as h & x Persei.
Both clusters are around 14 million years old and lie around 7,500 light years from Earth.
For those of you in the Northern Hemisphere, this is a spectacular place to search out with Binoculars although they are visible to the naked eye, in a city it may be a push to spot them.
You can find them in between the instantly recognisable Cassiopeia (the giant W in the sky) and the main stars of Perseus itself.
Despite it's young age, some of the blue giant stars are already heading off the main sequence, and as a result, the orange tinged stars contrast beautifully with the bright blue of the still hydrogen burning siblings.
