When Shuri asked why she could not save her brother and Namor replied,
I don’t have an answer to that question
he found in her another broken soul who sought answers to the same questions as he once did. He, too, was given gifts yet he could not spare his mother from the heartbreak of losing a life she once knew. He was no god with infinite wisdom but a mere mutant who had lived longer than most. Even if he tried, he couldn’t save everyone. We all lose everyone we love.
All he could do was offer her the words that gave him solace, perhaps in hopes she would find meaning in them too, and maybe save her from the loss and grief consuming her.
My ancestor would often say only the most broken people can become great leaders.
