Light yagami is the real charmless man
Snooker Shoot Out, Leicester
It's that time of year again when snooker lets its hair down, wears a silly hat and/or shades, and chants 'YELLOOOOW' at any opportunity! My two previous SSO adventures had been a mixed bag but this week went really smoothly, with barely a hiccup to speak of; I was expecting the worst during rig day as we are also involved in setting up the lights & beeps in the arena, but it was literally a case of someone plugging us in and giving us the thumbs up!
The tournament delivered its signature blend of daftness and drama - highlights include Jack Lisowski's last-gasp win over Mark Allen, 19 year-old Julien Leclercq's nerveless run to the final, and any match involving Dechawat Poomjaeng (see below for an example), plus a load of extraordinary match-defining flukes! The big moment of drama came when Dominic Dale was called for a time foul by the referee in his R3 match vs Asjad Iqbal - it was bloody close, but after a thorough review on the ref's monitor the man in charge upheld his ruling. Dale was clearly not impressed, and Iqbal could've/should've punished him, but in the end Dale managed to return to the table and win through.
Fortunately there weren't too many more contentious moments, but as a team (Liam & Jenny were my co-pilots), we navigated all obstacles superbly. Chris Wakelin won the final against the aformentioned Leclercq, doing so in style with a 119 break, which snatched the highest break prize from Ali Carter and added an extra £5,000 to his bank account! £55,000 for 70 minutes of action? Not a bad rate, that...
I’m convinced when Who Says dropped everyone’s self-image issues stopped for at least 3 minutes while they listened to it
I look kinda cute in this edit: I do wear glasses and I'm nearsighted so I need them but it's not as bad now but my sight will get worse as I progress lmfao
