Collins, Nancy Lancaster's Butler at Ditchley ..
Haseley Court, Oxfordshire by UltraPanavision Via Flickr: After arriving at Haseley Court in 1954, one of Nancy Lancaster's main projects was to convert what was left of the original moat into a canal. The long walk leads from the walled garden at one end to the woodland garden at the other, and also to the topiary chess garden.
Revisiting The Yellow Room
I stared decorating this room almost a year ago. The yellow paint color was a bold choice and I have been thrilled with it. The color changes beautifully throughout the day. I love how sunny the yellow color is in Spring and Summer and how warm and rich it looks in Winter. I also think it is a great background for my art and furniture. Of course this room is reminiscent of the iconic yellow rooms created by Nancy Lancaster, Mario Buatta, and Albert Hadley.
Inspired by Legends
Iconic yellow sitting rooms by some of the giants of interior design. From the top- Mario Buatta, Nancy Lancaster, Albert Hadley for Babe Paley, and lastly my homage to these masters of their craft.
The Living Room
The living room is actually for living. Think All-American meets English country home. Leave the grey and neutral tones at the office. This is your space to express yourself and share your interests. You should have lots of comfortable chairs that can easily be moved to form groupings for relaxing or entertaining friends. Enjoy a variety of different size tables for playing games, serving hors d’oeuvres or displaying a collection. No more “disposable” furniture. Antique and second hand stores are great places to find well made vintage furniture. Invest in original artwork. Find a style and period of artwork that interests you. Hand made wool rugs add color and texture. For inspiration look at the timeless designs of Mario Buatta, Miles Redd, Albert Hadley, and Nancy Lancaster.
