Is it time for Nancy Lieberman tea???

Okay here's the tea. This is all public record but it was a long time ago so many people don't know.

Nancy was head coach of the Detroit Shock in 2000. And there was this guard named Anna Deforge. And Anna wanted to be a WNBA player. That was her dream and it was a difficult dream because she didn't get drafted. But Nancy Lieberman wanted to support Anna's dream. And why did she want to support that dream? Because she was in love with Anna. So Anna got invited to training camp and then made the official roster. And then she was in the starting lineup.

The Detroit roster was extremely uncomfortable with this arrangement because clearly Anna and Nancy were in a relationship. They told the press. Nancy and Anna denied everything. Nancy resigned from coaching. And Anna had trouble making a WNBA roster for a few years after that.

In 2003, Anna made her way back to the WNBA as a Phoenix Mercury. And yes, Nancy would go to those Mercury games. And that's the Mercury team that drafted rookie Diana Taurasi in 2004.

Imagine reading about Nancy and Anna in the news. And then winning two Lieberman awards. And then getting drafted. And you roll up to your first day of pro basketball and there's Nancy and Anna. That's quite the "welcome to the league" moment lmao
