Routes to the summit to #Damavand 5610m: There are at least 16 known routes to the #summit, with varying levels of difficulty. Some of them are dangerous and require ice-climbing. However 4 of them are considered as the main routes. The most popular one is the #southern_route which has steps and a camp midway called #Bargah_Sevom Camp/Shelter at 4,220m. The longest route is the northeastern and it takes two days to reach the summit starting from downhill village of #Nandal and a night stay at #Takht_e_Fereydoun (at 4,300m), a two-story shelter. The western route is noted for its sunset view. #Simorgh shelter in this route at 4,100m is a newly-constructed two-story shelter. There is a #frozen_waterfall / #icefall ( #Persian name #Abshar_Yakhi ) about 12m tall and at 5,100m, it is the highest fall in #Iran and #Middle_East. The best #season for climbing is #summer. A major settlement for #mountain_climbers is the almost-new Iranian Mountain Federation Camp in the village of #Polour, located on the south of the mountain.
