Extra delusion points if you have an alert set up but you keep checking ao3 anyway.
Maybe it missed something! Sir, that is my emotional support fic tag.

My money’s on no.
Now that I think about it, I might be in the weird part of the Venn Diagram that’s “negative when perceived as a woman, patronizing when perceived as a man” as my irritability, seeking for improvement, and genuine but somewhat flat optimism grind against each other through an electronic interface.

Oh god I’m so sorry you can’t get your meds! :(
To be clear, I have some meds! I’m just debating if I need a stronger prescription because I can see my mood is, well, not good. Solidly ungood enough that I’m thinking I need extra serotonin encouragement. But if I need a stronger prescription, I’m unsure how easy booking a doctor’s appointment will be.
On the flip side, it’s also possible this is just the first-full-week-of-isolation breakdown, and after another few days I’ll be feeling okay with the ordinary help my current prescription provides. I’m not yet sure. After over a year’s experience, I think I’m able to distinguish “frustrated” and “rational amounts of concern for world events” from “unnecessary existential angst which an antidepressant will relieve” and I think I’ve tipped toward the latter today.

I introduced my mom to podcasts for just this reason and it worked!
To be clear, it’s not that my mom doesn’t have other things to do than watch TV. She reads, maintains the house, talks on the phone with friends--but does much of this with the TV on as background noise. I apparently managed pretty well with this growing up, but after 3 years living in an apartment without a TV, I’ve lost the ability to tune out the noise and flashing lights from it.
So it’s not a matter of giving her alternative things to do, so much as asking if she’d be willing to do only those things for a few hours when I’m spending time with the family in the living room. (And for all I know she actually needs the background TV for her own sensory comfort.)

I don’t know what I’d do if you ever changed your name, nanda panda.

Well damn. I’ve been dying to see it. :(
I think it’s worth seeing, at least to see how they handle the need for silence on screen. (Although, try not to watch it in a theater with Jurassic Park playing at full volume next door.)
I appreciated the film craft. I wish they had told a more compelling story.
If you go see it, let me know what you think? It’s got a 95% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so other people obviously liked it better than I did.

I did! She’s sweet and likes my lap. :-)
