Napping or Napped Finish
Napping is when fibers are brushed up and the fabric feels fuzzy!
Staple fiber fabrics only!
Napping helps hide wrinkles, aids in thermal retention, and makes fabric a little weaker.
Napping is seen in sweatshirt fleece, fleece, flannels, and various other fabrics.
Flannel is traditionally made of wool with both sides napped. Flannellette is made with cotton or a cotton blend with only one side napped. Outing flanel is made with a cotton or cotton blend with both sides napped.
