The Evolution of “Ciel Nocturne”s Étoile

1) The prototype. Alroundly created with the binary brush in Paint Tool SAI. It needed much improvement, since the eyes were widely spaced and there were no structures.
2) Eye gap got corrected, her face got improved a bit and shadows were made a bit darker to give the whole sprite some depth.
3) Re-made with the Pen tool in Paint Tool SAI. Colouration and face were changed again, everything got more structured with folds and improved shadowing.
4) A test-sprite. The previous sprite got a bit too “cute” and un-fitting for Ciel Nocturne’s eerie atmosphere. So it got completely overhauled. Black, scrawly outlines, red underlined eyes, that stare into one’s soul and darker, dirty looking colours. Étoile also grew a bit larger and became thinner, to create a less adorable, than creepy figure.
5) The sillhouette of the finished, animated product. I don’t intend to reveal it just yet...there wouldn’t be any surprise in the end. would it?
