Narrative and Sequence

A Narrative can be considered as a sequence of related events occurring in time

Normally, we conceive time as moving from left to right ➡️ and from top to bottom ⬇️

We can play and disrupt the narrative flow with a non-linear narrative or changing the direction of a narrative by presenting a story in reverse, breaking the conventions of reading from left to right and top to bottom, this can gain the effect of a narrative being revealed backwards or being interrupted.

Page Breaks: where the viewer will turn over the page and can be used as a way to create surprise or anticipation

The best is considering each page as a self contained narrative unit which interacts within a sequence.

Final Piece | Narrative and Sequence

Using around 24 frames, we were given the task to make a gif containing a “surprise”.My surprise was the unexpected glitchy transition of girl to the zombie-like person. 

I really like how it came out, as I was hoping to push away from doing something humours and instead I have something creepy and disturbing.

If I could change anything, I would of changed the lighting or contrast of both the normal and creepy sides to something a little darker, as it still looks very light. I would of also played around with maybe adding in more glitch effects such as black and white or a lot of noise.

W.I.P | Narrative & Sequence

Just a work in progress of my gif for Narrative and Sequence. Heavilly editing photo's of my friend we took so she looks as if she's glitching into her"true self" or at least a zombie. Idk, just wanted it to look a bit scary rather than funny.
