I still feel sorry for Obito. Not as a person, of course, but as a character. 

This is the problem with the Naruto fanbase. People view characters as real people instead of actual characters in a manga. I'd hate Obito if he was a real person, but he's not. He's in a manga, and he's a damn good character in my book. People need to stop treating characters as if they were real. Obito's role in this story is the biggest role in Naruto. 

Think of it this way

If it wasn't for Obito, Naruto the manga would have absolutely no plot. And if a character contributes THAT much to a story, then that's a damn good character. People really need to start viewing characters as CHARACTERS, that are meant to contribute to the story. Not view them as actually people and get all personal with them. 

Obito did more than just fill his role as an antagonist. Hell, he technically killed the protagonist's parents, manipulated a group of S Rank ninja just to get him closer to his plan, AND he made the whole ninja world go to war just by manipulating them into thinking he was Madara. That's a really good antagonist, and that's a fucking good character. And no, he did not do this because of Rin. He did this because of the ninja system. Rin's death merely opened Obito's eyes. Nothing more.
