Nas - Nasir | ALBUM REVIEW
It’s safe to say this is an amazing album and most definitely a favourite of the year so far. Period. Kanye&co do a really good job with the production, adding in some interesting samples which can really carry a song from time to time; but with Nas on the track we know their’s little need for that.
The album was short and sweet, perfectly timed, meaning I didn’t need to hear much more after the 7 tracks just based on how it was delivered.
The message’s Nas brings to the table have great impact as expected. I enjoyed the anecdote describing a child feeling pain when getting an vaccination on the song everything.
The main flaw I found was that the album was driven by Kanye a bit too much, making me forget at times that it’s a Nas album. That’s not to say that Kanye ruined it for me, but it might as well have been a collab. I felt like it was a Kanye album just spoken through Nas.
Overall this is an impactful album from the beginning track (especially with Nas laying the knowledge on a couple hot topics). Minor hiccups like Kanye’s singing let it jolt sideways a bit but none the less this is brilliant.
9/10
