Ignite the Night CHICAGO was such a great experience. Last night was “a condensed version of a NASA iTech Forum. Through these events, we find cutting-edge technologies that solve problems here on Earth and can help make NASA’s net era of exploration on the moon and Mars possible”. Brian Stofiel was the winner of Ignite the Night CHICAGO, the one who earned a position as one of 25 semifinalists in the 2020 NASA iTech Cycle I, where NASA’s Center Chief Technologists thoroughly evaluate each technology. “Stofiel Aerospace looks toward eliminating heavier and consumable metals and replacing them with lighter and stronger 3D-printed ceramics that can be constructed and customized as the need arises, or mass-marketed here on Earth. Positive structural molding was designed as a biologically renewable resource. This allows for in-situ construction of complex ceramics through common additive manufacturing processes. Using various construction methods for the mold and ceramics allows this news manufacturing capability to adapt to changing environments and uses”. This event was around so many wonderful people and the judges who were responsible for choosing Brian Stofiel as the winner were: John Cesarone (Illinous Institute of Technology), Christopher Deutsch (WeCasa), Terry Howerton (TechNexus Venture Collaborative), Galina OZgur (Aera VC), Jessica Randazza-Pade (IDEO), Stephen Wasko (NewSpace Chicago), Jonh Dankanich (NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center), Richard Godwin (Space Technology HoldingsLLC), Michael Lembeck (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), Harry Partridge (NASA’s Ames Research Center) and Ramona Travis (NASA’s Stennis Space Center). It is so inspiring when you believe in your dreams and you work so hard to make them come true, not only for you as a human being, but for the people, for any chance of improving the way we live, with the ultimate goal of enabling people to live on other planets. Let’s keep motivating others.
