Animal shelter appreciation week... a good excuse to surround oneself with cats, dogs, horses, and any other animal that might be calling the Sanctuary home, if even for a little while. Livvy had grown up volunteering at the sanctuary, spending a lot of time there with Mandy, petting puppies, giggling over cute kittens, begging their parents to let them come home with a pony (no such luck). Even into adulthood, she found herself at peace whenever she was there, even if it was just to visit and take her mind off of work and life. Thankfully, it hadn’t been very hard for her to talk Nate into coming with her that afternoon, to introduce him to the dog that she had met on her last adventure there, but also just to spend some time helping out, maybe walking some pooches, brushing out some cute felines. Probably not beg him for a pony, but it wasn’t as though she had written it off entirely as a possibility just yet. As they made their way up to the front doors of the shelter, she could already hear barking, and someone laughing in the distance, and couldn’t help her smile as she turned to Nate, looking up at him. “Which one of us cracks first and asks ‘can we take this home?’ over something far too cute for it’s own good?”
