New album for Neither/Nor Records!
working with 'The Bodies' has played a big part in my joy, love, and development for music these past few years. doors opened, inhibitions shattered. sometimes you need to get your face melted before you get to anything your soul has a say in.. to reach a state of not already knowing.. or to welcome 'uncertainty'.. something we may all ponder and challenge, always.. I sense it's under-pondered.
as we were invited to take part in a Cheng Ran exhibit at the New Museum which involved recording in a wide open space, the elements of performance and recording (Nathaniel Morgan) met. each instrument has a left and right channel thereby creating spaciousness and overall bewilderment..
over the years I started experimenting with different setups. it’s a strange feeling not sitting behind a drumset, instead finding myself sitting on the floor surrounded by percussive objects and an mp3 player.. of you go now.. or to paraphrase Han Bennink: I’ll quit when I can engage an audience playing only two matchsticks;)
