“Yes,” Meredith said, even though she was given two options. It was her choice to get sober, and her alcoholism was a past experience. Then she chuckled and shrugged when he apologized. “Don’t be sorry for being curious, it’s that instinct that makes you a good cop, it’s why I asked you to help me with this case.” She took the water bottle and placed the case file on the kitchen island. “Well. . . honestly I’m not sure where to start. . . that’s the biggest problem. Since the chief doesn’t want me looking into the case, I haven’t been able to dig into what, other than their looks these three women have in common.”
