Last year a 15-episode Cutie Honey series, Cutey Honey: Beloved Enemy, was released. It was shot as a short drama, with episodes only being a few minutes long, as it was formatted to be watched on a cell phone.

It stars Natsuki Abe as Kisaragi Honey/Cutey Honey (above), but I was surprised to find that Rina Hashimoto (a current crush of mine) plays the villainess!

I've seen the first episode. Everyone involved appears to be having fun, but this will not be remembered as a great adaptation of Go Nagai's manga and anime. There is no budget, everything is filmed in empty rooms or darkened warehouses, and the digital effects would have been laughable ten years ago.

Still, I'm sure for someone who likes to watch their dramas in short bursts on their phones it would be passable enough.

If you want to give it a view for yourself, the first episode is available on Youtube (link below). It hasn't been subtitled or dubbed, but it's easy enough to figure out what's going on.
