Natural Consequence
Confirmative may not be so inoffensive and It could come from making too much garbage in nature. “Natural applies to what conforms to a thing’s essential nature”(Rocket Guide to Synonyms). After awhile nature may even move and grow claws. Not that it would speak about the living or the dead. But only in plain truth. As if it would happen without natural facts; as a consequence including…

LOGICAL CONSEQUENCES

Proverbs 23:13 Do not hold back discipline from the child
Some children are effectively disciplined when they must experience the natural consequences of their disobedience. For example, if your child fools around and misses his bus at school, you may choose to let him walk home instead of picking him up yourself. If he procrastinates on a school project you have…

Advice: What's fair?
My 6th period class is overly chatty. I really don't even know if a seating chart would help because there are 32 of them and they're all friends. They are honors, if that matters. It's not out of control; we're just working on reigning it in ("we" being me and them). I choose not to yell over them (unless they're supposed to be loud; re: group work).
This week, I've taken to calling for their attention once at a normal reasonable volume, saying nothing else, and blatantly waiting for attention. It's slow-going, but each time they've started self-monitoring themselves and their classmates a little faster.
Today, because of these delays, I did not get to tell them their homework. I had no trouble getting to it with my other classes, with a minute or two to spare. I told them I would post it to Edline (read: shouted it as they beelined for the door), but now I've changed my mind.
The homework was and is always going to be due Friday. It's a good chunk of reading, so I wanted to give them two days to tackle it (on top of all their other homework from other classes); however, it's absolutely possible to read it in one night. The remainder of the assignment is nothing that won't fit on one side of an index card.
I want to give them a natural consequence. They are good and friendly kids, but their behavior in class, which I've discuss repeatedly, was the direct reason I didn't get to the homework. I don't want to yell at them, but I want to not post the homework to Edline and opt to tell them the assignment in class tomorrow. Same assignment, half the time.
Is that fair?
