Tick, tock, tick, tock.. the mundane clicking of the wall clock echoed away in her ears alongside the scratching of her pencil against the journal paper. Idly sketching a gilnean rose. Something she drew often. It brought her comfort of some sort. Today it kept her mind busy, until the shop owner finally arrived. Announced by the rattling of a creaky door.
"Ohh.. forgive me Miss Finch.. Was our meeting today?" Old Mister Gentry asked as he cobbled his way to the counter. "Mm. My mind.. is not as good at remembering anymore." He laughed dryly.
"No worries, Mister Gentry." Carolyn forced a polite smile while flipping to a different journal page and pulling out the receipt she had written up. "This is your total for this mornings delivery. I went ahead and already set the plants out for you while I waited." She motioned to the nearest one, a water-poppy.
Of course he had to make his way over to the water-poppy and inspect it. "Hmm." Carolyn did well to hide the irritation that she was already late for her next delivery. "Very well, Miss Finch.. Very well." Slowly he moved to gather his coin, counting them out before passing them over. "Thirty-four silver.. mhm.." He mused, "Thank you again. I'll send you next month's order in a week or so."
"Pleasure doing business. Enjoy the rest of your day." She offered a hurried dip of her head before rushing out the door. Heading to the following appointment that she was already late for. Though it seemed she was not favored today, rounding a corner, her petite form crashed into that of a Draeneis much larger form.
A slight yell of surprise and frustration left her lips as she suddenly found herself on the ground. Silver coins and flower seeds now strewn about. "Watch it!" The Draenei huffed as he continued on, hardly phased by the human barreling into him other than annoyance.
Carolyn's jaw clenched as she scrambled to pick up everything she dropped. Shoving the coins in any pocket she could while trying to salvage the seeds that may have been crushed. "You could have helped me.." She grumbled to herself before standing up and brushing herself off. Rubbing two fingers against her temple as she took a deep breath. "It's okay. Everything is fine." She spoke to herself as she relaxed her shoulders, fixed her glasses, and carried on once again.
It was just another day in Stormwind..
