Naughty Nancy was, well.......Naughty
Damn what a wod! Started the afternoon sessions hoping for a window to get the workout in. 4 was a no go as i had novice members, same at 5 with a couple of newbies. 6 p.m. class filed in. Just when I thought the window had closed and I was going to get out of dealing with the "naughty one" 6 was all vets and I had an extra coach on site.
After warm up I gave everyone a few minutes to warm up on the overhead squats and determine the weight they would do in the wod. I did offer the wod at RX(15 ohs per round) and a games option (25 reps per).
We were warm. It was time.
600m run(ours was actually 550 but did have stairs and hills)
25 overhead squats @ 140 lbs
3-2-1 and we're off...like a heard of turtles. I had no intention of hauling ass knowing what was waiting in the gym. That 140 felt HEAVY in the warm up and that was with no run involved. I came in the door just under 3 minutes. Chalked and under the bar. Hit 15 reps. Chalk...breath. Hit the last 10 and out the door. My legs are telling me this is going to suck soon. No. Now actually. Round 2 pretty much the same on the ohs. When I headed out on run 3 it took everything I had not to walk. My legs were toast. The past 2 days wods were squat cleans and cindy so my legs weren't great to beging with and the heavy overhead squats were finishing them off. Shut up. Rich wouldn't complain. When I hit the door in round 3 my mindset was "just one more run". I grabbed the bar catching the the 140 in the squat/snatch and started repping them out. Shoulders are getting a bit wobbly and it's hard to control my breathing.
The last run was, well, the last run. Trudged through it and grabbed the bar for the last set of 25. As I had with the other three I did 15, chalked and rested , then 10. Done.
I will say without the cheering section there's no doubt i drop the bar more often. I was happy with the number. I think a sub 20 may be doable with proper motivation but I hope I never find out.
