I’m replying Uncharted I at the moment to make my own walkthrough journal. To prepare, I needed some pages from Sir Francis Drake’s journal. I know a lot of people uses photocopies of Drake’s original nautical charts, but I like a challenge myself, so I downloaded the document digital replica from the National Library of Australia (and copied the Naughty Dog original pages from the in-game videos)

I sketched all of them by hand using a fountain pen and black and red De Atramentis ink (it’s important that ink is REALLY waterproof) on brown, cheap paper. 

Then, I bathed pages in hot, black tea for a few minutes and spread some instant coffee on top for extra stains. I dried the pages and the oven tray with kitchen paper before I put them into the oven. 200º, 6 minutes (preheated) And finally I left them under some weight for the night (enveloped in oven paper, so they would not stain anything) Gotta say the process was succesful, I quite like the result. Now, on with my own extra pages.

An old French chart from 1813; the era of  the Napoleonic wars showing the sea called Kattegat; which it’s the water between Jutland to the East and the Swedish coast. The islands of Anholt and Læsø can be seen.
