Poly + ACOTAR Week Prompts 2025

Day 1 - 4/6: Whose court is it anyway?

This can go so many ways! What was your groups courtship like? Who courted who? Are they from different courts, and if so how does that affect their relationship? 

Day 2 - 4/7: Reveal

Who, or what is being revealed? Is it a flirtatious move or a serious conversation? You tell us!

Day 3 - 4/8: Will there be enough room?

Many of our favorite tropes are written with a pairing of two: grumpy/sunshine, golden retriever/black cat, enemies to lovers, the other male/female. How do they change when there’s more than two? How does your group of four or five fit in that inn’s only one bed? Take these tropes and flip them on their heads, or expand them for a larger group!

Day 4 - 4/9: Alternate Universe

Maybe it’s an alternate world, or a retelling of how canon would change if there were a larger romantic group. Perhaps your group is reminiscing on what could have been. What world will your group travel to? 

Day 5 - 4/10: Memories and History

What is your group remembering and why? Maybe it’s a memory of a favorite experience, or a painful one.  Is it a former partner, the day they chose to get together? 

Day 6 - 4/11: Courage

What does courage mean to you, or to your group? Courage to live freely, courage to go on an adventure, courage to try something new? The world is your oyster! 

Day 7 - 4/12: Why Choose?

Welcome to free day! Pick your favorite prompt ideas or tropes and mash them together, or take it literally and create a why choose scenario for your group.

WE HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT!

In the effort to be more inclusive of writers and readers, poly+ ACOTAR week is rebranding to poly+ SJM week! This means that content from all three series by SJM including all crossover and multiverse theories are welcome! Always wanted to write that Bryce/Azriel/Hunt fic? Or the death bringers: Nesta/Lorcan/Hunt? Now is your chance! The opportunities are endless as we welcome you to...

What else changes?

Nothing else about the event changes! This change is intended to increases the number of characters and worlds people can utilize to create for this event.

What about the prompts?

The prompts WILL NOT CHANGE. The 2025 prompts are still the 2025 prompts, and will be reposted under the rebrand. So if you've already started planning, do not fret!

What if I haven't read the other books? What if I only want to write for one series?

You do not need to have read all the books to participate, and you do not need to create multiverse content! If you planned for all ACOTAR content, stick with that! If you only want to write within series, go right ahead! This change is meant to open opportunities, not close doors.

We can't wait to see what you come up with this spring!

Prompt List Reveal!

Hello all! It is time to release the poly+ ACOTAR week 2024 prompt list!

Day 1 ~ 4/7 ~ Beginnings: How did we get here? How did your group end up together? How’d they meet? Was there a mating bond? Maybe a relationship first? Or raging dislike that became something…more?

Day 2 ~ 4/8 ~ Comfort: Do you like sicfics? Injury fics? Maybe someone just needs a little support. How do the others in your poly+ group help them when they’re down?

Day 3 ~ 4/9 ~ Secrets: Someone is keeping a secret. Is your poly+ group keeping their relationship secret? Is someone in the group keeping a secret from the rest? Or maybe it's a different type of secret entirely.

Day 4 ~ 4/10 ~ Adventure: Your poly+ group is off on an adventure. Is it a physical one? Maybe they’re on a secret mission. Or an emotional adventure, like wanting to start a family together. Interpret this however you’d like! Perhaps they’re just trying something new they’ve never done before *wink wink, nudge nudge*

Day 5 ~ 4/11 ~ Favorite tropes: Enemies to lovers, only one bed, forbidden love, forced proximity, fake dating, second chance, grumpy/sunshine, roommates, harem/reverse harem, whatever trope you like feel free to play around!

Day 6 ~ 4/12 ~ Celebration: Solstice, Calanmai, Starfall, weddings, birthdays, baby shower, whatever holiday or celebration you can think of!

Day 7 ~ 4/13 ~ Free day: GO WILD! Fulfill your dreams, or someone else's! Whatever you think, goes.

Feel free to interpret these prompts as strictly or as loosely as you'd like! You can pick one group for the entire week, or change it up as you go! Consider exploring different types of consensual non monogamy (CNM) as well!

Introducing Poly+ ACOTAR Week!

Hello all and welcome to Poly+ ACOTAR week, an event to celebrate consensual non-monogamy within the fandom! 

So what is consensual non-monogamy, or CNM? CNM is an umbrella term for relationships in which all partners give explicit consent to engage in romantic, intimate, and/or sexual relationships with multiple people. CNM can take multiple forms, including polyamory, open relationships, and swinging relationships. Here at Poly+ week we encourage you to explore not just the sexual aspects of CNM, but the emotional as well. This event was designed to bring together writers from multiple ships and writing forms (X-reader, OC characters, and canon). 

As we work toward the event, we’d like to share more about the 5 common misconceptions of CNM. Keep your eyes peeled for that and so much more! We are so excited to engage with all of you and spread more love throughout the ACOTAR fandom.

CNM Misconception #5

Misconception #5: “People who engage in CNM are bad parents.”

Research on this misconception was completed specifically for individuals in polyamorous relationships. Parents engaged in CNM reported benefits from pooled resources and time. Children of CNM relationships found benefits from having multiple adult role models and being able to receive attention from more people. In the teenage years some negativity was reported, however this was due to the children being opened up to stigma and discrimination. This was reported to be a reflection of societal norms and not the parenting style of individuals involved in CNM.

Many misconceptions and opinions about CNM relationships revolve around the societal norms that individuals are exposed to growing up. But just because something doesn't fit your view of "normal" doesn't mean it isn't someone else's "normal"! Normal is relative, and everyone deserves to live and love they way they choose. Here's to spreading awareness and acceptance!
