hi amy! Since infamous has come out I’ve flocked to your personal blog from time to time to learn more about your writing process and it’s been super interesting! I think I saw some posts you made about having bits and pieces of the story written that won’t be seen for a while which had me curious. How much of the infamous story do you have planned out, and do you jump around and write bits and pieces of different parts of the story as inspiration comes up? Congrats on the new update, super excited to see what comes next for the story!
Hi and thank you!! I'm glad it's of interest!
I have the basic big beats of the regular story (like the competition and what every episode is going to look like) and the RO routes planned out. I know all of the big scenes, the turning points, climax etc. the hard-hitting emotional scenes, that helps guide me from beginning to end! I have a basic outline of everything, but it's not super rigid aside from those things. Everything else is about filling the blanks and just giving myself freedom to have fun figuring it out while writing.
And I do, sort of! A lot of what happens is that I get inspiration for a scene that I realize would have more emotional impact or even make more sense much later in the story, so I tuck it away for later. Sometimes I write the whole scene and set it aside because the emotional inspiration and the weight is there now at the present moment, and I don't want to lose it hahaha but for the most part I write very linear. I'm not good at jumping around a lot!
Thank you so much!!!

hello aaron what are your reasonings behind the n25 old god assignments :)? only if you would like to elaborate <3
:3 :3 :3 hi lemy !! so some are based on their lore descriptions and some are based on mechanics.
mafuyu's (the sadness) applies conditions that will raise Doom (100% doom is a failstate) based on status (money, exp, items, etc) at the end of each mystery. i chose it for mafuyu because it represents piling burdens weighing one down. mechanically, i think mafuyu would be good at managing the semantics of minimizing these conditions.
kanade's (the dreaming) is a bit abstract, its entirely the "losing reason raises doom". (but all the lore is written poetically enough to work). kanade only takes care of herself because if she isnt alive she cant save people. reason is one of two health points; stamina is physical and reason is mental. because this is a tough condition, solving mysteries reduces doom by an extra 2%. i like the symbolism of dreams & nightmares for kanade as well.
ena's (herald) has really cool lore descriptions. its an eldritch form resembling instruments that intends to summon everyone for a party (the shattered court) and basically rapture them there. every time you complete a mystery, one Old God Status effects the town and locations to show the passing of time strengthening the god's power. the Herald has no effect but to double this as two town statuses per mystery. this makes it pretty easy to play generally, but a few of the statuses do really suck.
mizuki's (the spider) was the fastest choice bc mizuki's whole theme is that she runs away from her problems and the spider disables fleeing from combat. its one of the hardest gods to play because many characters are not designed for actually defeating enemies- running away is often the best option. so a morbid choice. (at the same time, most enemies do reason and/or stamina damage and few do doom, so Kana wouldn't be very affected by this god as health damage doesnt matter to them).
