Dates in Space Exploration
April 6,1965: Intelsat I
On this date, the United States launched Intelsat 1 for the Communications Satellite Corporation (COMSAT) into geostationary orbit. This was the first ever commercial satellite. Intelsat 1 was built by Hughes Aircraft Company and because of its appearance of staying in one spot in the sky, it made it very simple way to use satellites for communication.
