It wasn't often that Shanks had the newspapers in hand. Such a thing was usually Beck's pastime, though with the world essentially being turned upside down, even the red haired captain was interested in the happenings. Among the many news, there was one of the missing princess of Alabasta, Nefertari Vivi.
Cryptic as ever, the newspaper didn't elaborate much further on it and left it to the imagination of the reader, though with how the Marines and the World Government had their fingers in it, it wasn't much of a surprise. Anything to make them appear all sweet and innocent in the eyes of the public.
It wasn't until the red haired captain was alerted to a ship approaching that he looked up from the paper and joined his trusted first mate to see what the ruckus was all about.
Sure enough, a much smaller pirate ship was approaching them from the side, not showing any signs of stopping or taking a detour to avoid direct collision. Shanks narrowed his eyes. Just what was their thing? Did they have a death wish?
"Should I prepare the men for an attack?" Beck asked, not really believing the sight in front of him.
The red haired captain gave it a thought, assessing the situation. With what little time they had before impact, there was also only so much they could really do. "One cannonball to the hull, should slow them down and give us a chance to board and see what their deal is." After all, they weren't exactly known to attack other pirate ships without a reason. This, more than anything, was them defending the ship from potential damages.
The older man left, having two of the crew prepare the canon. On Shanks' motion mere moments later, it was fired, a precise blow to the other ship's hull, leaving a sizeable hole that let water in immediately. One by one they made their way over to the smaller ship, Shanks boarding last and making his way to Beck. "Search the ship top to bottom and bring everybody to the main deck."
