Or no; how could his hug gets this cold? But then.. When was the last time he hugged you? You could barely remember the feeling you had when he hugged you back then. Or how his heartbeat felt like when he hugged you. Or how yours felt, when you hugged him.
Maybe that was among the reasons you asked him out tonight, after awhile. You texted him earlier that day if you could see him just for a bit, knowing he would spend the entire night practicing. Just the way he had been for the past months since he passed the audition.
You were mentally prepared that it was going to be a cold night, inside out. Little did you know that it’s completely nothing to do with the weather tonight. Funny you did hope that it would be at least breezy, so you could blame the wind for giving you such cold night. But you know, despite the chants of denial you’ve been repeating in your mind, that it was the distance that kept on growing between you and him, the elephant in the room you have both been feeding, that contributed the most to what you’re feeling. So no, you didn’t feel the wind hitting your face, but it was a cold night to the freezing piece left of your heart.
It was starting to feel too much to bear that you just needed to break free from this embrace; you needed to tell him that this is not working anymore. But no, you felt his arms tighten upon your slight movement.
“Sorry, but can’t we stay.. for a bit longer?” You felt his head dropped on your shoulder.
“Just stay a bit more.. Please..” You’ve never heard him sounding as weak as he was at the moment.
“I know... I’m sorry.. But please, stay for a bit more..” His voice got even more inaudible that you’re surprised you could make out the words he mumbled. You couldn’t help yourself stroking the back of his head.
“Please tell me, tell me.. anything. Let me hear you, please.. I’ve missed you and I will miss you my whole life, I miss you even now so please.. say something..” You felt that your shoulder starting to get wet. His words were chopped in between his sobs. What a terrible person you are, for making him having to go through this very moment.
Sorry, Yongie.
You took a deep breath, letting out what you wanted him to hear.
“I’ll... I’ll be out there to see you still. You know that, right? You may not get to see me, sure it’s gonna be a large crowd there, but you know I’ll be there. In the sea of people who will be cheering on you, with your team. I’ll be there for you. You’ll do... great. You’ll do fine.”
That night, you ended your words, so you could sink in his hug for the very last time. As the barking of faraway dogs broke the silence tonight, you decided to stay in his arms for a little longer.
