Okay quick post because this gave me the ick.
So the "Shark boy summer" music video just dropped out—Barely an hour ago as I'm writing this. And I've gotten really fucking suspicious about a phrase, but I need feedback on this:
One of the first verses in the video mentions how Chaz is bigenital. (Eg: "...Cuz he's a shark boy and he's got a big dick. Yeah, yeah, that's true but shark's got two. So I got a big dick and a small one too.")
Initially, I thought it was fine. Like, Sir Pentious was also mentioned to have two penises due to being a male snake sinner. So I figured it wasn't anything new.
But... I did end up realizing that THE WHOLE SONG was just about how Chaz fucks everyone. And how he's got a big dick. The two penises thing is only mentioned at the start, but the sexual theme is just part of the whole song.
The coincidence is, at the very least... Deeply unfortunate. Especially since it's implied that people want to have sex with him due to the size and number of his genitals. Yes, the whole hypersexual thing was already a part of Chaz's "character", and already sketchy ever since he had been confirmed as pansexual, leading to an unsurprising yet still predictable pattern of panphobia/pan archetype.
Having in mind how Chaz has two penises, is pansexual, hypersexual, is wanted by a ton of characters, and brags about having two dicks and a big dick (the latter being integral to his portrayal and inseparable), leading to an incredibly unfortunate and not very pretty picture being painted with all these archetypes. Offensive, even. I have the feeling that this isn't being called out AT ALL due to the whole "comedic" tone of his entire existence, and since he's part of a supposedly "inclusive" show (whose inclusion is OBVIOUSLY flawed in many ways)
Subsequently, I realized that any possible intersex/varsex coding on the Hellaverse part, was straight up only connected to the act of sex itself, ergo, fetishized.
[Note: I also know that these characters aren't really "intersex coded" since the species they take features from, are naturally bigenital. Still, I do think that it's worth being mentioned, as it is true that many intersex people have bigenital characteristics—And I truly think that it is very important to see what kind of portrayal of representation is put into these characteristics being added to characters, as if, to what intent? How important is it? And further more. ]
Now, I'm not saying that such features should never be represented or shown as appealing (obviously, intersex people can do whatever they want and they deserve body positivity and such), but I am saying that they shouldn't be FETISHIZED. As in, objectified in an explicitly sexual way.
I'm not intersex myself, so I have no real say in this, but I personally believe it's disrespectful to a degree. How the only possible mention of intersex coding or varsex characters in both shows will only ever be the "two dicks" archetype. Not to mention how it's been reduced to the fetishizing attempts at comedy because it makes "unappealing" characters suddenly become "attractive" to others. (As in, the gag where Cherri suddenly showed more interest in Sir Pentious after Angel told her how he might have two dicks. And how Chaz is shown to be like, a very panphobic stereotype of the hypersexual "fuckboy" sort of character. Always talking about his big dick, alongside being confirmed to have a second penis too in the music video, and how his genitals are objectified or the main reason most are attracted to him. His "unappealing" aspect comes in with his personality and how the main cast mostly don't like him or don't feel really attracted to him for the most part, only by background characters as a joke)
I'd like to hear others thoughts on this, if I'm thinking too much, maybe being disrespectful or too sensitive, if I'm not wording things correctly, if I'm nailing the issue down, thinking too hard on this, etc. Once again, I'm not intersex, and these characters aren't precisely intersex either. But I worry that there is some clear pattern of very specific intersexism going on, and if so, I'd wish for it to be addressed and recognized by the fandom and creators. So please interact! Thank you!^^ (also, please tell me if I should edit anything from here or add trigger warnings)
