URGENT: Save the NEH

If you live in the USA, you can use this easy widget from the National Humanities Alliance to send a message to your elected representatives asking them to protect the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), which has been targeted by DOGE for a clawback of current grant funds and for staffing cuts up to 90%. The widget provides a template email and automatically looks up the addresses of your reps.

BEYOND Unsinkable

A fascinating profile of Margaret "Molly" Brown that seeks to dispel the inaccurate view of her as an ign'ant, singin', dancin' hillbilly tomboy golddigger saloon girl propagated by fictionalized trash media such as the Debbie Reynolds film that bore her name, sort of, as she'd never gone by "Molly," to begin with, but the songwriter found it easier to work with.

In real life, Brown was committed to social causes that helped the disabled, women, Blacks, and, especially, working people. It's fortunate for Helen Deutsch (screenplay)/Richard Morris (book) and Meredith Willson (score) that Margaret Brown died 30 years before they defamed her, as she could and, ideally, would have brought the wrath of God down on their heads.
