[this post] is a list of the additional DA media that's officially available for free (there are things like short stories from the website and stuff). [this post] is a rough chronological/timeline order of all canon DA media. if you'd just like my recommendation on which DA comics and books to read and in what order - the order which they came out in is totally fine imo. :D I'll list them here in case it's a lil less overwhelming in that format.

Also, rly amazing to read is the lore books, World of Thedas Volume 1 and World of Thedas Volume 2. I feel like you can read these whenever though, and over a long period of time split up into chunks if you prefer. ^^ Varric's 'book' Hard in Hightown is a fun bonus read, it's an in-world novella. The IDW comic.. give it a miss. ^^; also, the list above doesn't include short stories that are outside of Tevinter Nights.

The DA:TV-focused/streamlined answer for me is - Dragon Age: Knight Errant, Dragon Age: Deception, Dragon Age: Blue Wraith, Dragon Age: Dark Fortress, Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights, Dragon Age: The Missing, and the DA:TV-specific short stories. These are As We Fly, The Flame Eternal, Minrathous Shadows, The Next One, Ruins of Reality, The Wake, and Won't Know When. This covers the 'books and comics etc which are set after Dragon Age: Inquisition' era. Throw in the two World of Thedas volumes as well if you are really interested in the lore of the world in general and would like that as a primer going into DA:TV.

I don't know if this is really a prompt, more like me spilling some random idea at you, but If this can help as a distraction:

Nik and Price who have decided to go on one of their hush hush black ops together. No backups, no one to pick them up, it's just them. It's dangerous, they know it, they know the risk, but who they're after is too important.

They knew the risk, even when they get separated, coms dead, and Price finds Nik laying on the floor, beaten down, bleeding, three bullets in his bulletproof vest. Nik is almost passed out but tells him he's fine and to go after the man they're here for, but John refuses, letting the guy go, despite what they risked to get him, and takes Nik home.

What follows is a long night of taking care of a bruised Nik, whose ego is hurt just as much as his body is, and who cannot understand why John of all people would let an important target escape to help him, when he wasn't even on the verge of death or anything. Two stubborn men who are very much in love just going at it.

yeah since six am this morning every thing that couldve gone wrong has gone wrong and its still going wrong lmao i made tea like 20mins ago to try to make myself feel better and the lid on my honey came off so i had to clean honey off of my desk :)

this brought me immense joy hehehe i wrote a little snippet for this idea it just came out of my brain i didnt intend to write anything but here we are pfft:

John finishes wrapping the bandage around Nik's arm, his hands steady despite the storm raging in his chest. Nik winces as he shifts, propped up against the couch, his face a patchwork of dried blood and bruises.

"You should have gone after him," Nik says, his voice hoarse but cutting. "We had him, John. You let him go because of me."

Price’s jaw tightens. He doesn’t look up, instead busying himself with the med kit. “I made the call, Nik. Let it go.”

“I was not dying,” Nik insists, a flicker of anger in his pale eyes. “You did not have to—"

“I wasn’t losing you.” John’s voice is low, rough, but the weight behind it silences Nik.

Nik studies him, the line of his shoulders, the way his hand lingers on a bandage like he’s bracing for another argument. “I am not fragile, you know,” Nik says quietly.

“Didn’t say you were,” John counters. He finally looks at him, his blue eyes hard but honest. “But I’ve buried too many people to risk you being another. Call me selfish, but I wasn’t bloody leaving you there.”

Nik scoffs, leaning his head back against the couch with a grimace. “Selfish? You? No. Stupid, maybe.”

“Say what you like,” John mutters, grabbing a wet cloth to clean the blood off Nik’s cheek. He works with a gentleness that doesn’t match his gruff tone. “You’re here. That’s what matters.”

Nik huffs, but there’s no heat behind it. “You will regret it tomorrow,” he murmurs, eyes closing as John’s hand steadies his face. “Letting him go.”

John’s lips twitch into a faint, humourless smile. “Maybe,” he admits. “But not as much as I’d regret losing you.”

Nik opens his eyes at that, his expression softening despite himself. “You are impossible, you know that?”

John sets the cloth aside, his hand lingering for a moment on Nik’s jaw, a rare, unspoken moment between them. “So are you,” he replies. “Guess we’re even.”

The tension between them settles into something quieter, warmer, as John leans back, handing a blanket to Nik with a muttered, “Get some rest. You’ve earned it.”

Nik doesn’t argue this time, though his lips twitch into a faint smirk. “You are not going to hover all night, are you?”

John snorts, settling into the chair beside him. “Like hell I’m leaving you alone. Someone’s gotta keep you from doing something daft.”

Nik huffs out a soft laugh, wincing slightly. “And I cannot stop you?”

“Not a chance,” John replies, leaning back but keeping a watchful eye on him. “You’re stuck with me.”

NOW, this may be because I associate you with Karlach, but even then, I think it fits you. You've got a fire in you and a very creative soul and a thirst for justice, Fire just suits you so well <3

You know what, yeah, I agree! I don't know much about Pokemon and when it comes to choosing one of four elements I usually go for water (or earth/plants/nature of that's an option) BUT it's more of "what I want to connect with" choice, whereas yeah, I do think that as a person I mostly embody fire, I got way too much explosive energy :D also interesting that you connect fire with thirst for justice, because it's not intuitive for me BUT it makes perfect sense too.

And yeah, Karlach is my everything so definitely on point there xD thank you so much! What type would you be? I think there are these... Psychic type? Psyonic? Feels like it would fit your vibe... I'm talking out of my ass since I don't know shit, but if there's a Pokemon that can use like an infra sound attack to cause the opponents to feel uneasy, scared and faint - that's the kind you'd be vibing with... although actual water fits you too imo, especially cold water... thanks for coming on my ted talk about stuff I don't know anything about >< love you!

7, 8, 25 and 27 with dbd for the fandom asks! 💕

Tysm for the ask!! These are all about DbD, because it’s the fandom i’m actively in right now, and probably one of my only ones.

7: What is one of your favorite ways to participate in fandom?

Writing headcanons and sharing them with friends is always a blast! Getting to have a good talk about different takes we have about different characters and getting a better look at them through someone else’s lens is really intriguing, actually. Even if I don’t necessarily agree with them, seeing how my friends portray characters is really fun. Exchanging ideas for the characters I love with people who I know don’t mind my own ideas is probably one of my favorite ways to interact with fandom.

8: Who are three fanwork creators (fic writers, gifmakers, artists, meta writers, etc.) that you love seeing on your dash?

OOOHHH This is a good one. I have a whooole bunch, but you’re one of them, even if it isn’t frequent!! I have a good chunk blocked, but of those I follow, deefinitely @rdps01 and @dakota-belton-art!! Maybe i’m biased because I just naturally like my friends’ stuff, but also they’re both very talented and I’m glad I got to know them <3 @mandela-catalogue is a wonderful mutual too with fantastic art!! Seeing any of it on my dash is just a whole blessing (I’M SORRY FOR THE PINGS GUYS BUT ILY!!!)

25: What unique thing do you think you bring to [the DbD Fandom?]? 

Man.. I don’t even know haha. I don’t make a whole lot of content all that often; I’m no hotshot content creator, and most of the time since last year, my kind of “fandom” has sort of found its way into almost exclusively tight-knight group chats that are pretty dbd-centric—I tend to avoid stuff otherwise, just out of personal experience, which sort of means most of what I could say here isn’t all that visible. I don’t consider myself all that unique, but if I had to pick ONE thing? It’d be that I tend to prefer making content for platonic pairings than to romantic ones. I know that’s not all that special, but I don’t really know what else to put lol. I also pride myself in my aspec headcanons, but that’s more of a me thing than something I necessarily bring to the fandom. You’d have to ask someone who knows me really well, because I’m not all that good at saying for myself ^^’’

27: What do you love about the fanworks in [the DbD Fandom]?

All the different interpretations of DbD characters in art, fics and headcanons are sooo much fun to see!! Even if I might not agree with all of them, seeing new ideas is quite refreshing, especially when they’re ones I do really enjoy. People get really creative with it, and I love to entertain their ideas. Sometimes it even helps me come up with new ideas of my own, which I’m very grateful for, lol.

Holidays are just like any other day in my house and we don’t travel or go anywhere really haha. And no, I’ve never travelled with any of my friends, in the holidays everyone goes on their own way. 

silence of the lambs: is there anyone you envy? what would you change about yourself?

Yeah, is just for some dumb things... looks and things like that, normal stuff and yeah that makes me feel bad but it doesn’t last too long. And I really want to be able to see without glasses.

✨- How did you come up with the OC’s name?

So, first of all, her name she goes by currently is Marusya "Ved'ma" Royeva (Marusya is a deivative from Maria and "Ved'ma" means "witch"), and we also know her previous alias, Ellie. Coming up with the name had been a retrospective journey lol so bear with me, I'll yap.

So first, as I touched here, I just used a nickname of one of the loves of my life. I simply used it, because she (the real life Witch) is always on my mind + it's a pretty effective nickname for an angry woman, you know, the horror empowerment of witchcraft and all that. Then I decided to make parallels with the Emerald City books, and that's how I concluded before becoming an angry, bitter, vengeful Ved'ma this OC was a wicked witch's counterpart, a trusting, hopeful girl Ellie (this is a Dorothy-analog character in our interpretation of Wizard of Oz). Considering that an airstrike my OC got under is the point of no return in her transformation from Ellie to Ved'ma, I think it's neat (the flying wagon that killed Wicked Witch of the East was also an airstrike of sorts, and Wicked Witch of the West in our books had an army of flying monkeys).

But the lore of my OC says, she took her current name from a fallen comrade she was in love with, so since that fallen girl already was wearing a nickname of one of loves of my life, I just combined (and tweaked a bit) names of two girls I loved to get her full name. And now she is Marusya Royeva. There's an additional layer of meaning in the surname, because Roy (Рой) means "swarm", like a swarm of bees, and Ved'ma's real power lies in camraderie and unity.

I still don't know what her real name, before she took someone else's, was. I am so good at this.
