Honestly... I remember reading that ST was supposed to end after one (or two?) seasons and it shows.
They tried to do something in season 4, but eventually decided to choose the easiest way and have quite a predictable ending. Which is funny because in all the S5 promo interviews fans were teased in a way that you could have expected something epic and intricate lol
This is why I have only watched the scenes with Henry/Vecna/Mr Whatsit this season and not the whole show. It's simply because Jamie put his all in this role. Sweat, energy, mental resources and all.
It would be funny if it wouldn't be sad/frustrating
I mean I still would give it a chance of my own instead of going off solely on the reviews if you like the show and want to judge it fairly.
There are some emotional parts this season, and honestly the musical moments in the final episode were perfect. I’ve expressed my mostly negative opinion, but there were definitely moments where I was at the edge of my seat. I wasn’t expecting Prince and Iron Maiden to be featured and that was a highlight for me. Caleb Maclaughlin, who plays Lucas, was the standout of the show for me, next to Gaten and Jamie. The feeling of disappointment comes from those exciting moments not leading to something congruent in the next step of the plot as they kept going and going, and leaving way too many (contradicting) loose ends.
They raised the bar super high in season 4 that it was gonna be near impossible to be up to that same level, when a lot of the special moments in 4 were like lightning in a bottle, unable to replicate, because no one was expecting them at all. In s5 the expectations were crazy high, and I feel like the Duffers had to scrap a lot of the original plans because they realized the fan theories were either spot on on what they were gonna do, or better than what they could achieve.
