okay so you can't upload videos i think, so i'm making it a gif - spider ID blease! we saw this (incredible) guy in northern queensland, australia.

Spider ID - QLD, Australia:

Henlo, yesss, this huge friend is a female Giant Golden Orbweaver (Nephila pilipes), family Nephilidae.

Joro spiders are from Japan but they live in the US now! Their butts are about the size of kidney beans. Here's three individuals I saw today:

(1) eating a wausp (2) notice the golden web (3) rear end

three Australian Golden Orb females, pictured here from youngest (top) to oldest (bottom), offering a nice look at the change in colours and patterning over their 1 year lifespan. hopefully some males will appear in the web of the oldest female soon. interestingly, the second and third spiders are both missing the same right leg.
