Can we make sci-fi even darker?

There should be “nerdgore” subgenre of sci-fi. Basically hard sci-fi but made by young and stressed students, using what they’ve learned from their textbooks and put a dark spin on it. Writers would use their own trauma or terrible news, such as natural disasters, then make dark academic humor to cope.

It’s quite rare to see scientists being referenced in a dark manner in dark, fucked up projects. We should get goth girl Einstein, edgelord Newton or murderer Tesla in a project. Seeing depressed chemists decaying like a radioactive element sounds interesting for me.
